USA Student Christian Movement in the Midst of Resurrection

Forty years after the heyday of student activism in 1968, Christian student activists from across the Christian spectrum are rising as a force once again. The planning of a beautiful revival to face the great challenges of the 21st century and take steps towards realizing the Kingdom of God has gained traction in the hearts of students near and far and this weekend a steering committee laid down the first concrete steps towards further organization and action. 

Youth Seek Meaningful Ecumenical Engagement

Young people have spent years knocking at the door of the World Council of Churches, seeking greater involvement in the life of the organization. In the past few years, that door has opened further.

Edinburgh 2010, International Missionary Conference-Youth and Young Adults!

Edinburgh 2010 Youth and Young Adults are hosting a series of events designed at increasing youth participation in the 2010 process. Events will include: an Online Consultation, which will serve as a platform on which we build our understanding of mission, and provide a channel for sharing deeper theological and practical insights for the Edinburgh 2010 Study Process; a Youth Writing Contest, which seeks to incorporate the input of youth within the nine study themes; and a Youth Multimedia Contest, which tries to engage youth on the topic of ‘The Changing Face of Mission’ through diverse forms of media, including but not limited to: video, photography, music, painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.

Rallies in 100 cities will be organized by young people across the world as part of a major push to persuade Governments to seal a meaningful Deal at the crucial UN climate convention meeting in Copenhagen in just under 110 days time.

WSCF Conference: “Raising New Prophets: Arising of a Movement”

In response to the expressed needs of many students and campus pastors and chaplains, the North American Region of the World Student Christian Federation (WSCF) decided to reactivate the Student Christian Movement (SCM) in the United States after 40 years of being dormant. Major themes of the conference included student activism with an emphasis on the history of student engagement in social issues through the WSCF and radical inclusivity, to maintain a welcoming spirit for all participants.
