Every year, the World Student Christian Federation (WSCF) hosts the Universal Day of Prayer for Students, the oldest existing ecumenical global prayer tradition. This year's liturgy

New Fire Movement Dreams, Takes Action
With a prayer of thanksgiving and guidance, asking for, “the work of the Spirit in expanding our communications… the gift of prudence as we lay organizational foundations… the gift of discernment as we pilot our New Fire seed grant project… for a Spirit-filled outpouring of glad and generous hearts as we expand our circle of New Fire”, the participants of New Fire 2009 left this space having dreamt dreams, and then implemented action plans for a vision of a revitalized young adult ecumenical movement.
New Fire Stokes the Flames of Unity
On the second day of the ecumenical young adult gathering New Fire 2009, nearly 40 young adult participants from across the country attended Sunday worship at the Church of All Nations, a multi-cultural Presbyterian Church (USA) congregation in Minneapolis.
New Fire 2009 Gathers with the Aim of Igniting a Worldwide Movement
Forty young adults from 17 communions, 15 states, the District of Columbia, the Philippines and Canada, have gathered here this week-end with an ambitious aim: to launch a nation-wide movement of young adults for Christ.
New Fire 2009, Building the New Fire Information and Application!
New Fire 2009 participants can look forward to an inclusive program that seeks to connect ecumenically engaged young adults who value the work of Christian unity through discussion, worship and leadership training. Participants will be introduced to the history and tradition of Christian ecumenism, and work together to identify the strengths and challenges of the current young adult ecumenical movement in the US. Significant time will be given to experiential and inclusive worship, devotions and common prayer, as well as leadership training for young adults to practice ecumenism in their local contexts. Intentional time will be set aside for small group discussion, and participants will be encouraged to reflect creatively on their experience through media and social online networking. It is hoped that all participants will find their experience spiritually enriching and intellectually challenging, and will come away from New Fire with new friends in Christ, committed to furthering the purpose and goals of New Fire for the good of Christian unity everywhere.
Pastoral Letter from the WSCF Following a Week of Disasters and Tragedy in the Asia Pacific Region
The World Student Christian Federation’s students from all over the world mourn the loss of lives, homes, and communities this week in the Philippines, Indonesia, Tonga, and Samoa. These disasters have forever changed the surviving communities of these countries. We pray for strength and courage for all survivors who have weathered the storm, who must begin the work of grieving their losses and of re-building livelihoods and neighborhoods after terrible damage.
USA Student Christian Movement in the Midst of Resurrection
Forty years after the heyday of student activism in 1968, Christian student activists from across the Christian spectrum are rising as a force once again. The planning of a beautiful revival to face the great challenges of the 21st century and take steps towards realizing the Kingdom of God has gained traction in the hearts of students near and far and this weekend a steering committee laid down the first concrete steps towards further organization and action.
